The way EVERYBODY — her siblings, Tom — jumps straight to the most classically misogynistic silencing tactic in the world any time Shiv speaks up in a way they don't like drives me fucking insane. You're being kinda emotional, Shiv! You're acting crazy, Shiv! You're a mad witch, Shiv! Your stupid little lady brain is getting all worked up because of your wandering womb, Shiv! Clearly you're too hysterical to be taken seriously, that's why politics and business just aren't right for women, better leave this one to the menfolk, Shiv!
the siblings different responses to logan's death... kendall's depression and resignation, used to being on the outs with logan and having spent so much time trying to kill his titan of a father, that he's unable to cope with his actual death, able to love him in his last words to logan yet unable to forgive him... roman in shock and complete denial, idolizing his father as this ultimate, unstoppable killer and being unable to cope with the fact that the last thing logan might've heard from him was anything other than i love you... shiv confused yet devastated because the last thing she said to her father was a (completely deserved) verbal beatdown and by the time she got the chance to talk to him knowing he was going he was already gone, her anger now intermixed with grief, all spilling out at once... connor being an afterthought as usual, the first thing he says being how logan never really cared about him and even getting married anyway, giving logan the same amount of care on his death day that he received everyday of his life.... many thoughts all incoherent
connor having ptsd over his wedding cake. connor finding out dead last that his father died, while they are literally at his wedding. connor’s very first instinct reaction being ‘he never even liked me’. connor knowing he has to be sad but also knowing his father gave him nothing. he has nothing to grieve. he’s empty. none of them even considered asking him to come say goodbye. he’s irrelevant. they are at his wedding. connor comforting his sister. connor not getting to be the supportive big brother. or the first son. he never was. connor asking the one person who actually has the power to hurt him by leaving if she’s only around for the money. she is honest with him. someone is finally honest with him. he marries her in front of no one. it’s not for show. it’s not for his father. it’s for connor and connor alone.
tomgreggies can we please talk about the significance of tom calling greg after logan dies. that is beyond forehead kiss, beyond nero and sporus, beyond any of the fucked up shit they have done in the past. tom being the one to call the siblings, staying strong over the phone, telling them the excruciating details of their father's heart fucking stopping, watching his mentor literally die in front of his eyes, and holding it together. and then he calls greg, and we watch him say "i'm not okay," watch him shed tears for the first time all episode. he can't do it with shiv---he could never do it with shiv. and greg doesn't need to know the bullshit about tom's "logistics" folder, about cyd. it's not why tom called. tom called because he loves him in his own insane batshit crazy fucked up way but he loves him, he loves him and there's no denying it now and oh my god season 4 is going to destroy me
